Frederick East Classical is a cooperative effort that requires parents to be involved in the education of their children. Working together, parents provide a robust learning experience for all the children of FEC. As with any co-op, the parents are the teachers. Some parents teach one class, and some teach several.
To help the day-to-day operations of FEC run smoothly, each family is assigned service time to complete over the course of the school year. We call this service time MASH (mandatory service hours). A family’s hours are based on the number of students in the program and a parent’s teaching hours on site. MASH tasks can include set-up and tear-down of the buildings, lunch duty, playground supervision, office assistance—anything that makes the days on campus run smoothly. More detailed information can be found under the tuition tab.
The office manager schedules all MASH hours. If a person cannot work MASH, they can buy out the time so that FEC can pay someone to complete the task. If the scheduled time is missed, the family account will be charged. Any questions concerning MASH should be directed to the office manager.
