A La Carte High School Classes
Frederick East Classical does not offer Ala Carte classes in grades K-6th. However, we will allow students to attend math classes from 6th-12th grade. We offer the following math:
Pre-Algebra - Instructor: Ruth Allen
Mrs. Allen is a multiple class teacher at FEC. This is her second year teaching this subject.
Algebra 1 - Instructor: Kim Jernigan
Solid Algebra skills are a must for future Geometry and Algebra 2 classes. The "Concepts and Skills' text, edited by Larson provides these fundamental building blocks.
Geometry - Instructor: Dena Carson
Mrs. Henry is a long-time tutor of math and is excited to join our team at FEC!
Algebra 2 - Instructor: April Danchik
This will be our first offering of Algebra 2. This is a necessary math in order for students to be prepared for college mathematics placement exams. Mrs. Danchik is a seasoned science and math teacher and has taught up through Calculus to her own children and has included other students in these classes. Students under her instruction have earned excellent SAT scores in the math section. Normally you can find her in the science department, but she will be offering her expertise in the math department next year.
Advanced Math (Pre Calc/College Algebra - This class will be offered for the first time in 2020-2021. The objective will be to prepare the student to take advanced math classes at Community College or a 4-year school.
High School Science can also be taken ala carte and we will be offering the following sciences:
Biology - Instructor: April Danchik
The Prentice Hall Biology Text is used for this course. Mrs. Leibold is a Registered Nurse at FMH and will offer lecture, project learning and learning through dissection. Students will have homework outside of the Monday and Wednesday classroom learning. This class offers a 'Science Credit' for high school.
Chemistry - Instructor: Dena Carson, PhD.
Mrs. Carson is a teacher in the Science Department at Frederick Community College and is looking forward to working with students through lectures and class experiments. Homework will be assigned each week outside of the Monday and Wednesday classroom learning. The Chemistry class can be counted for a 'Science Credit' for high school.
Anatomy and Physiology plus Health- Instructor: Lorean Justman
Mrs. Justman brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this class. She attended medical school, where she grew in her love of all things 'anatomy' related. However, she has had years of experience in the health industry using traditional and non-traditional methods for attaining health for clients, and for her family. Students will not only learn the anatomy and physiology, but will learn how to keep the body healthy. This class is not only learning information, but also learning life-long skills for whole-body health. This class also offers a 'Science Credit' for high school.
All classes are $550.00 for the year (M and W instruction and homework assigned and graded by instructor.
