Parent Involvement

Picture
Our kindergarten teacher is a mom of six!

This is a 'cooperative' learning situation where it is crucial to have all parents participate in some manner.

(1) Parents should consider teaching a class. Some parents teach one class and some teach several!
OR
(2) Parents are scheduled for 'shifts' of service. Depending on the number of participating families, parents will be asked to come in for an average of 15-16 'shifts' during the school year.  We meet for 64 full days and your shift is usually a 'half' day. Volunteering will include lunch help, playground help, assisting periodically with younger classes, office help, etc.
OR
(3) Parents can 'buy out' their service commitment. This amount is an additional $1200.00 a year.

There will be several jobs that may be completed at home for particularly difficult family situations, illness or other special circumstances. These jobs will be made known and parents can 'apply' to be considered for these types of jobs.

In addition, there will be 'committee' jobs (curriculum, facility, administration, activities, etc.). Each family will be asked to place a parent on one of these committees. Meetings/responsibilities will be minimal.

We are not a 'school' or situation where parents drop off children for the whole day. Of course, 'buyout' does mean that you can 'drop off' and do not have to participate on campus. Your money (just as your time) does go to help in our general budget.
