Our Faith Statement
As partners with one another in the education of our children, it is necessary to ensure that we are in agreement regarding our expectations of one another. Therefore, we have set forth the guidelines below in order to ensure that we are all of like mind concerning the following important issues regarding our faith, and the instruction of our children.
-We believe in one God who is eternally present in three persons: God the Father the Almighty, the Creator of Heaven and Earth; God the Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer; and God the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son and guides the faithful. We believe that the Holy Trinity is one God existing in three persons, and three persons existing in one God. Mark 1:10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
-We believe that God is the creator of the vast universe and His handiwork is evident in His people and in all of creation. In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth. Genesis 1:1
-We believe the Bible to be the infallible word of God and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16. We also believe that NOTHING can be added to this whether in the form of other religious books or prophetic speaking.
-We believe that to be a faithful disciple of Christ involves having a personal relationship with Jesus our Savior. ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.' Acts 16:31. We also believe that Jesus is the ONLY way to salvation. No other 'gods' can bring someone to salvation. Jesus claimed "I am the way, the truth and the life...no one can come to the Father but by me." John 14:6. Except for the saving blood of Jesus, we believe that all of us 'fall short' of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and that the only way to heaven is through Jesus. None of our acts of kindness or goodness will yield eternal life.
-We believe that human life is sacred from the moment of conception until natural death and we profess a pro-life worldview. ‘For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.' Psalm 139:19
-We believe that God has ordained marriage to be between one man and one woman. ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife.' Mark 10:7’
-We believe that all Christians have a common enemy whose goal it is to divide believers and conquer the world. Our goal is to unify as Christians so we can, with God’s grace, overcome evil and spread the Gospel in our communities. ‘But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.’ 2 Cor. 11:3
-We believe that we should be respectful of the different Christian faith backgrounds (various Protestant denominations and Catholic beliefs) here at Frederick East Classical and agree to be in healthy conversations that grow us into faithful disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. ‘But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.' 2 Peter 3:18
